What is the TRIGGER?

Surely there is SOMETHING that triggers us to internalize things.

Why is it that two people can watch the same movie (or read the same book...etc) yet one of them continues on with their life as if nothing significant passed them by, while the other leaves feeling a great significance and feels within themselves something more, something that moves them?
...moves them to question, think, ponder and reach conclusions. In essence, it awakens their soul, it opens their eyes, it brings them to life!

So here we have Rene Descarte's conclusion that: I think, therefore I am.

But what drives us to begin thinking?

What is the trigger?

What is the trigger that awakens us from a thoughtless mind to a thought-full mind? What is the trigger that awakens us from a lifeless slumber to a meaningful life?
Though I still have not reached a conclusion on what the trigger is, I have reason to believe it is dependent upon us; it is a choice to answer when the trigger is pulled or not to answer.

A variation of Rene Descarte's conclusion that I have formed: When I am thinking, I am living.

To clarify this, I do not refer to dull thinking, but to great thinking, to pondering, searching, brain-storming type of thinking.
I also would not leave this alone to be the only time when I am living. In fact, I would also add: When I am humbly, happily serving, I am living. When I am following my righteous desires, I am living.

I have had further time to think about what the trigger is. One thought I have had is that the trigger is A Desire To Change. Think about it. IF I have a desire to change, then when I watch a movie or read a book or have conversations etc...I will find meaning in those things that help me reach my desire to change. BUT if I am happy and content with where I am, who I am, and what I am doing, or in other words, if I have no desire to change, then I will simply find entertainment out of these sorts of things and nothing further than what they are. I do not look deeper into them. I do not seek out deeper meaning.

So, A Desire to Change. Is that the trigger?

Well, here is a good question to ask yourself, "Have I felt joy enough to endure the pain of learning?"

There you have it. Pull the trigger.
